Specialist equestrian earthworks

Get the base, drainage and levels right first.

A horse arena is only as reliable as the earthworks below it. We construct arenas across Christchurch and North Canterbury, including site clearing, excavation, grading, drainage, compacted base work and final riding-surface placement.

Every site is different. Ground conditions, access, arena size, water outlets and the selected surface all influence the build-up and final price.

Horse arena pricing

Custom quote

The arena earthworks are planned around the shed design, foundations, drainage and construction sequence.

Coordinated scope

Building-pad levels and site preparation Drainage and compacted aggregate base Horse arena sand or specified topping Access and surrounding earthworks Sequencing around shed foundations

We can coordinate our work around a Widespan Sheds design or the client’s chosen shed supplier.

Plan a covered arena →
Pricing assumptions: These ranges are based on a 60m × 20m arena and are not fixed quotes. Both outdoor estimates exclude fencing, borders and boxing, and assume horse arena sand unless another topping is specified. The budget build depends on suitable existing ground. Location, access, haulage, drainage outlets, groundwater, soft soils, rock, retaining and higher-end base or topping specifications can move the price outside the stated ranges. Shed structure, foundations, consent and building services for a covered arena are priced separately unless expressly included.
